Non-Fiction Fun!

The last few weeks, our class has been working hard researching an animal they choose with a buddy. We learned so much doing this research project! This week, we started digging deeper into the different text features of a non-fiction book and we started writing non-fiction books of our own!

We have really started slowing down when writing and making sure that we do our best work. Yesterday, we spent time on our covers. We wanted to remember to include all the important things: a title, the author and a detailed picture. The covers of our books are looking FABULOUS! We took a museum walk yesterday so we could see all our classmates' covers. A museum walk is a way students can share their writing pieces without reading them aloud. We walked around quietly and looked at all the wonderful non-fiction books we had started.

We are having such a great time writing our non-fiction books and I'm so impressed with the work I'm seeing. Keep it up first graders! I can't wait to read your books and learn more about the animals you picked. :)
