We're still here!

How is it December already? November flew by and we were SUPER busy! Since we only have 3 weeks until winter break, we are packing them full of learning! Here is what we've started since we've been back:

Informational writing: How To books

This week we started writing informational how to books. We discussed how this type of writing is different than the personal narratives we've been working on because it teaches the reading all about something. So far, I'm seeing some great work!

We started by exploring different how to texts and sharing what we noticed. We realized that how to books teach the readers how to do or make something!

Writing partners help us while we write!

Just like we had to plan our personal narratives, we also have to do the same for how to writing. We learned how to rehearse our how to steps with a partner to make sure we didn't miss anything important!

Solids and Liquids

We started our exploration of solids and liquids by sharing our schema. We knew a lot already! We started examining the solids this week and talking about the properties of our solids.

Reading

In reading, we've been busy making predictions, identifying character traits and writing about the beginning, middle and end of the books we read.

Skating

And last but not least, skating started this week! On Tuesday, our class skated for the first time. We learned how to put on our important safety gear and skates. The kiddos were up and skating in now time!
