Here's an update of a few things we've been doing in class.
We are continuing to hone our skills as authors. We are currently focusing on grabbing the reader attention right away with a BOLD BEGINNING! We're also paying closing attention to the details we are adding to support out main idea.
We have started sharing our journal writing in a sharing circle. We write in our journals 2 to 3 times a week and each time we do, a different table gets to share at the sharing circle. Then the rest of the class has the opportunity to respond with a question or a comment.
We are also making a list of interesting words we find during our read alouds. The list is growing and I'm seeing new words in students' writing.
As scientists, we are exploring solids and liquids and discussing their properties. Solids can be rigid, smooth, bumpy and soft. Liquids can be viscous, bubbly and foamy.

Stay tuned for more 1st grade fun!
